From an energy level diagram, we can determine the following:
1. Is the reaction endothermic or exothermic?
2. Does the product have more energy than the reactants?
3. Is the energy required to break the bonds more than the energy released?
Energy profile diagram
Energy Profile Diagrams are used to show the enthalpy change and activation energy of a reaction.
Activation energy
Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy that the reactant particles must have in order for a chemical reaction to occur. It acts as an energy barrier that must be overcome by the reactants before they can react to form products.
