Salt Solubility

Students are required to describe the general rules of solubility for common salts to include nitrates, chlorides (including silver and lead), sulfates (including barium, calcium and lead), carbonates, hydroxides, Group I cations and ammonium salts

All chlorides are soluble except lead(II) chloride and silver chloride

All carbonates are insoluble except Group I metal carbonates and ammonium carbonates

All sulfates are soluble except calcium sulfate, lead(II) sulfate, barium sulfate

All nitrates are soluble

All Group I metal salts and ammonium salts are soluble

All hydroxides are insoluble except Group I hydroxides, barium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide (sparingly soluble)
